One of the central themes in May was the "Child Day Care Action Week" entitled "Day in Yellow". On May 14, the actual "Day in Yellow" campaign day, interested parties had the opportunity to meet specialist advisors from the City of Salzgitter's Children, Youth and Family Department and childminders with their children at the Pirate Playground on Salzgittersee in Lebenstedt. You could drop by spontaneously, ask questions and have a great time.

Directly after the campaign week, various day care centers opened their childcare rooms to give parents and carers the opportunity to get to know them, but also to receive information on how day care works and what needs to be considered when placing a child in day care. Games and other activities were offered for the little ones in the facilities.

A repeat of this day of action is already planned for the coming year 2026.

It is and was important to the employees of the City of Salzgitter's Family Service in 2025 that they are available as contact persons for childminders. This is why meetings between childminders and municipal employees are just as important for exchanging information. In 2025, this exchange once again took place on the premises of the city's Family Service. Competent contact persons, such as the city's head of department Sandra Sorrentino, were available to answer participants' questions and provide further information. These meetings are important platforms for networking and direct communication between the administration and childminders.

However, it was not only the Family Services employees who were committed to being there for the childcare providers this year, acting as contacts and providing ideas and information.

For example, the "Kindertagespflege Salzgitter e.V." association was present in various ways in 2025. This included taking part in various information events and campaigns. These included the "Salzgitter spielt" event at Salzgittersee in Lebenstedt, which is so popular with Salzgitter children and parents. The members of the association not only invited children to play and have fun, but also provided information about childcare options in Salzgitter.

The non-profit association is committed to establishing, expanding and consolidating child day care in Salzgitter. The members support childminders, parents and guardians.
