Disaster control exercise in Salzgitter: firefighting from the air

On March 21 and 22, 2025, a disaster control exercise will take place in the city of Salzgitter from approx. 7:30 am to 5:00 pm.

The aim of the exercise is to optimally prepare the emergency services for possible emergencies and major scenarios and to strengthen cooperation between different organizations.

On both exercise days, firefighting from the air is explicitly practiced in cooperation with the police helicopter squadron. The participants are trained in realistic situations in order to improve their ability to react and coordinate in an emergency.

The exercise takes place in the following areas:

  • Northern Salzgittersee
  • Feldmark southeast of the Lesse district

Increased noise and traffic disruption is to be expected due to the continuous use of helicopters and emergency vehicles. Residents and passers-by in the affected areas are asked to remain calm.

The exercise is an important part of strengthening civil protection and improving safety at regional and supra-regional level.

First City Councillor and Head of the Fire Department Eric Neiseke emphasizes: "We are looking forward to a successful exercise and would like to thank everyone involved for their commitment and support."

Live information about the exercise will be published by the professional fire department on their Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/berufsfeuerwehr.salzgitter?igsh=amhyMDU3eHE2MGsx (opens in a new tab)
