Salzgitter

Joint efforts against human trafficking

On Thursday, June 5, as part of the "Joint Action Day - Human Trafficking", the city of Salzgitter took part in a Europe-wide campaign to combat human trafficking and forced prostitution.

The Salzgitter/Peine/Wolfenbüttel police station, the main customs office in Braunschweig, the district of Peine and the city of Salzgitter took part in the joint operation. The city of Salzgitter's public safety department was also involved.

A total of 15 properties were checked. Twelve of these were in Salzgitter.

Violations of the obligation to register, the obligation to provide health advice and violations of the minimum requirements for prostitution businesses were identified. In one case, there is suspicion of illegal operation of a prostitution business. Corresponding administrative offense proceedings were initiated.

First City Councillor Eric Neiseke commented: "We would like to thank all the authorities involved for their excellent cooperation in the fight against human trafficking and forced prostitution."
