The Greater Braunschweig Regional Association and the cities of Braunschweig, Salzgitter and Wolfenbüttel have launched the public participation process for the planning of the high-speed cycle link between the three cities. After the kick-off event for public participation took place in the Volkswagenhalle Braunschweig on January 24, citizens can now contribute their suggestions, ideas and comments on the possible routes in the municipal workshops.

The first workshop for the Salzgitter area will take place on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the refectory of the Thiede secondary school, Panscheberg 56, 38239 Salzgitter. Admission begins at 17:30.

The citizens' workshops will be continued in several consecutive sessions. The aim is to develop a preferred option for the high-speed cycle link together with the citizens. This will then be presented to the relevant political bodies of the cities of Braunschweig, Salzgitter and Wolfenbüttel for consultation and approval.

The regional association and the cities of Braunschweig, Salzgitter and Wolfenbüttel are planning a high-speed cycle link between the municipalities involved. Cycle high-speed connections are a contribution to the traffic turnaround and climate protection. They reduce travel times by bike or pedelec to a shorter or equivalent journey time than by car. To this end, the high-speed cycle connections are built in such a way that time lost by stopping at traffic junctions, slow journeys due to insufficient road widths, poor road surfaces and gradients are avoided.
