At the ceremony with over 100 guests, he expressed his thanks for the energy and commitment of the volunteers who help other young people in various areas in Salzgitter. The event was organized by the youth and democracy education team in the city's children and youth development department.

The Salzgitter-Briefs are awarded every two years to young citizens in recognition of their voluntary work with children and young people. This "letter" is awarded to volunteers who have worked for a club, association or youth organization for at least one year. The independent sponsors of youth work, youth sports, the youth parliament and the municipal children's and youth clubs in Salzgitter are entitled to nominate candidates.

This year, 95 young people received this award, of which 67 volunteers were able to receive it in person.

"Today we are honoring volunteers who do responsible work in youth work. This is exemplary and should be emphasized on an evening like this," said Stefan Klein on behalf of the city and personally, thanking them for their diverse volunteer work.

All of the honorees are involved in the areas of sport, church, volunteer fire department and municipal child and youth development. "This commitment by young people is an important pillar in and for our city. The work of young people enriches Salzgitter and makes our city more lovable," says Stefan Klein. The young people make a significant contribution to a humane, value-conscious coexistence in our community. "Their commitment deserves special appreciation and recognition."

The praise and congratulations were echoed by the attending representatives of the council parties as well as Dr. Dirk Härdrich, City Councillor for Education, Social Affairs and Integration; Marco Schmitz, Head of the Children, Youth and Family Department of the City of Salzgitter and Martina Malak, City Youth Officer of the City of Salzgitter.

Discussions with the honorees and musical interludes rounded off the successful event.
