New version of the city library's statutes available

A new version of the statutes governing the use of the Salzgitter City Library and the statutes governing the fees for its use is now available. The city council approved the submitted draft at its October meeting. The statutes have now been published and are therefore in force.

Since the last amendment to the statutes, the framework conditions for using the city library have changed, making a new version necessary. As the conditions and requirements have changed, the work in a library has also changed. This change is reflected in the newly formulated statutes adopted by the Salzgitter City Council.

What is new?

Holders of the Ehrenamtskarte receive a reading pass for the user fee of 10 euros. This corresponds to a 50 percent reduction on the fee for an annual pass for adults.

The fee for special services has been newly included in the fee regulations:

  • For the use of an Internet workstation, a fee of 1 euro is now payable for every 60 minutes or part thereof.
  • Another new feature is that media can only be renewed three times if they have not been reserved.
  • Exceeding the loan period for DVDs costs 1.20 euros per DVD and day for adults; children and young people pay 30 cents per DVD and day if the loan period is exceeded.
  • Additional charges apply if the loan period is exceeded by more than three days: In this case, adults will be charged 1.20 euros per medium and week or part thereof; children and young people will be charged 30 cents in this case.

Readers will be made aware of the most important changes when borrowing with inserts. An overview of the current fees is available in postcard format. The user regulations and fee regulations are currently being printed as a brochure and will then be available in all three libraries.

Information Libraries:

With their diverse and multimedia services, libraries promote freedom of information and expression and strengthen the core values of democracy. Libraries teach a wide range of skills for dealing with analog and digital tools and methods. New formulations also refer to this. For example, the handling of media from the library of things is mentioned and explanations are given on the use and handling of the Internet. The necessary regulations on data protection and copyright, which were not previously included in the statutes, have been newly included.
