Exhibition on the "HerzSchlag - when love turns into violence" campaign

On Tuesday, November 25 at 7 p.m., the exhibition "HerzSchlag - wenn aus Liebe Gewalt wird" (Heartbeat - when love turns into violence) will be opened in Lebenstedt town hall to mark Orange Day, the global day of remembrance and action against violence against women.

The interactive exhibition will be on display until Monday, December 8. It is part of the campaign for healthy couple relationships of the LKA Lower Saxony in cooperation with the regional state offices for schools and education in Lower Saxony. The patron is Daniela Behrens, Lower Saxony's Minister of the Interior and Sport

"HerzSchlag" serves to educate and raise awareness among victims of (ex-)partner violence and private supporters of those affected by violence. It also aims to raise awareness of counseling services and support facilities so that the inhibition threshold for using them can be lowered.

A transparent presentation of police procedures is also intended to promote trust in state action. In the exhibition, but also on the campaign website www.herzschlag-kampagne.de (opens in a new tab), those affected and people who want to help those affected can find out, for example, what the police do when they are approached for help. What happens after a report is made against the violent partner. What other possibilities there are to find protection and help, who you can turn to.

The campaign is aimed at the entire population. According to a recent study, however, there is a relevant incidence of violence in adolescent relationships. Due to the age-typical search for identity as well as gender roles and stereotypes, it can also be assumed that minors from violent family and parental relationships are at an increased risk of experiencing or perpetrating violence in their own first relationships. The campaign aims to raise awareness and sensitize people to violent relationships.
