Sportmeisterehrung

"Do good and talk about it" is the motto of the traditional annual awards ceremony held by the city of Salzgitter for its sports champions. This took place on Friday, March 28, in the usual festive setting in the large hall of the Hotel am See.

"You all show how attractive and sporty Salzgitter is," praised Mayor Stefan Klein in his opening speech. "But without our tirelessly committed volunteer heroes, these successes would hardly be possible." Klein did not forget the people behind the scenes who are indispensable for the sport and for the many good results.

A total of 25 state championships, 3 North German championships, 1 German championship, 8 second or third places at German championships, 1 third place at European championships and 1 third place at world championships were won by Salzgitter's athletes in 12 sports in the past calendar year. In recognition of their outstanding sporting achievements, the 74 children and young people were presented with certificates, cooling towels and a voucher by Mayor Christian Striese and Nicole Mölling, Director of Volksbank BRAWO eG in Salzgitter. The 63 adults received medals and certificates.

Mayor Stefan Klein also presented awards to particularly deserving volunteers. They received the silver or gold plaque for many years of voluntary work. The letter of honor, the highest award of the city of Salzgitter, went to Dennis Lendeckel from Billard-Sport-Club Salzgitter.
