Salzgitter

Diverse October

Drummer fans can look forward to October just as much as anyone who likes the music of PUR, chansons by Edith Piaf or the children's theater series "Kein Sonntag wie jeder Andere".

The drum mafia (Backstreet Noise) will be guests on Thursday, October 2.

Salzgitter will once again become a rhythm stronghold: at the 37th International Drummer Meeting, top international drummers will meet motivated young talents, amateur musicians and professionals.

It all starts with the Drum Mafia (Backstreet Noise) on Thursday, October 2 (7.30 p.m. Kulturscheune in Lebenstedt). In the full-length show format of Schlagzeugmafia, the audience becomes both witness and accomplice. Although the Mafiosi are always keen to keep up the casual gangster façade, it soon becomes clear that not everything runs smoothly in the Mafia business. How could it be otherwise? After all, with five drummers, everyone wants to set the beat.

The Drummer Meeting with workshops and concerts kicks off on Friday, October 3:

8 pm: concert by the jazz groove trio "Sons of the Preacher Man".

On Saturday, October 4, at 4 p.m., there will be an open drum circle with Ben Flohr at the monument in downtown Lebenstedt.

Also on October 4, the concert with the "Daniel Glass Trio" and three of New York's best session musicians will follow at 6:30 pm. Led by award-winning drummer, author and educator Daniel Glass, the band includes Sean Harkness on guitar and Michael O'Brien on bass. The trio's sound embodies two key characteristics: versatility and virtuosity. Their album "BAM!" (2023) presents a free-flowing improvisational style that oscillates between contemporary jazz, post-bop and funk.

The grand faculty concert with almost all of the faculty will be a crowning finale from 8.30 pm.

The Daniel Glass Trio is a guest in Salzgitter.

Who wants to join us in Adventureland? The PUR cover band invites you to join them on Friday, October 10, at 7.30 pm (Kulturscheune). With over twelve million records sold and sold-out tours, PUR are one of the most successful German bands.

For almost 15 years there has been an alternative for all PUR concert addicts: - The PUR cover band. Abenteuerland - The PUR cover band takes you on its own journey from "Drachen sollen fliegen", "Lena" "Wenn sie diesen Tango hört" to "Funkelperlenaugen" and many other songs. Just come along to Adventureland...

Anyone who enjoys listening to French chansons can look forward to "Parisian Flair" with Madame Piaf - Unmasking a Diva on Friday, October 17(8 p.m., Kniestedter Kirche in Salzgitter-Bad). Frenchwoman Marie Giroux and her partners Jenny Schäuffelen and Elisabet Iserte-Lopez invite you on an astonishing and humorous journey of discovery through Piaf's love life.

They sing, play and tell stories about the character of the greatest of all chanson singers based on the men from Charles Aznavour to Gilbert Bécaud who lined Piaf's path.

A diva is unmasked on October 17...
Ulrich Ellison is looking forward to meeting his fans in Salzgitter.

Ulrich Ellison, a world-class blues rock guitarist, will be our guest on Saturday, October 18 (8 pm Kniestedt Church). He first became known in his adopted home of Austin Texas when he won 3 prizes at the Austin Music Awards in 2015 and 2016, including "Best Guitarist" as the first European. In addition to working with Feliciano, Ellison has also played with Tommy Shannon (SRV, Johnny Winter), Chris Farlowe (Collosseum) and bassist Billy Sheehan.

The hedgehog no longer wants to be a hedgehog.

Children of all ages can look forward to Sunday, October 26, when the story of the hedgehog who should no longer be a hedgehog will be told as part of the "No Sunday like any other" series(3 p.m., Kniestedt Church).

The story: Once upon a time, a hedgehog left his small, safe garden and went out into the wide world. There, in the midst of the new, the strange, he immediately stood out. "Be like us," said the others. "Only then will you be allowed to stay." He struggled, adapted, shed what made him special - almost until he lost himself. But this story belongs to children, and hope can grow in children's stories. So it ends differently...
