Salzgitter

Amphibians hit the road

Due to the predicted rapid and strong rise in temperature and, above all, the mild nights, the migration of toads, frogs and newts can also be expected over the next few days.

"Attention toad migration": road users are asked to be considerate. Some stretches will be temporarily closed (the photo shows the section between the Burgberg parking lot in the direction of Oelber).

Experience has shown that the migrations take place in the dark between 7 p.m. and midnight, sometimes even in the early hours of the morning.

Road users are asked to observe the familiar "Attention toad migration" signs on all migration routes, especially on rainy nights, until the end of April.

Consideration must also be given to the volunteers who are often out in the dark on the roads collecting the animals and bringing them safely across the roads.

Please drive carefully!

Extreme caution is required on the following stretches of road, which are known as "migration routes" in the city of Salzgitter:
