The Antolin Reading Club came to a close with an enchanting show

The "Antolin" summer reading club came to a close with an enchanting show at the Salzgitter City Library in Lebenstedt.

The Antolin Summer Reading Club is a free reading promotion project that takes place during summer vacation at public libraries, such as the one in Salzgitter, and has proven very popular.

This summer, 75 active readers of elementary school age read books diligently. To encourage this, brand-new and current children’s books were marked with special stickers. The children received their own free Summer Reading Club password and answered quiz questions about the books on the online platform, earning points for correct answers.

In Salzgitter, the girls and boys read a total of 2,027 books and earned 70,173 Antolin points.

The Summer Reading Club also featured a colorful program organized by the library team. Activities included a forest adventure day, a games morning, a comic book workshop, and a Mario Kart tournament.
In addition to the activities and reading fun, every child who participated in Antolin received a certificate, a medal, and a small gift at the end. The top three readers in each grade level received a prize and a trophy.

To add to the excitement over the prizes, Christian Voß put a look of wonder on the children’s faces with his magic show at the end of the event.
“Antolin is a great program for sparking and sustaining children’s enthusiasm for books and reading,” says Jessica Färber-Stecher from the city library, who organized the summer reading club. Collecting points is a nice incentive, but ultimately it’s all about the joy of reading, which the city library aims to encourage through initiatives like the summer reading club.
