At the invitation of the ten family centers and in cooperation with the music school of the city of Salzgitter, the ice rink was transformed into a concert hall and special meeting place with many smiling faces. The children, youth and family department of the city of Salzgitter supported the participatory concert, which was sponsored by the "Auridis Stiftung" and "Wir helfen Kindern e.V.". "The children had already practiced the songs in the family centers in advance and participated enthusiastically," said Tim Simon, Head of Family Services for the City of Salzgitter.
Under the guidance of Alina Ludwig and Sabine Petter and accompanied by a live band, the children sang well-known current songs as well as older ones such as "Alle Vögel sind schon da" and "Bruder Jakob". Moving songs such as "Two little wolves" or the "Song of feelings" were particularly well received by the children. Melodies that many parents and even grandparents remember from their own childhood. This created a musical bridge between the generations. People listened, sang along, laughed and spent time together. It was a great atmosphere that was taken away as a nice souvenir, just like the song brochures that the family center teams created.
"Singing is something special. It promotes language development in a playful way, strengthens self-confidence and creates emotional closeness. Music is an important gateway to the world, especially for children. They learn rhythms, words and expression at the same time and experience how enriching it is to be part of a community," emphasized Sabine Petter, head of the music school.
All participants would like to thank everyone who made this musical premiere possible. A sequel is planned for next year. The date has not yet been set, but singing is already taking place in the family centers...
