Holiday Care at All Elementary Schools in the City of Salzgitter

The city of Salzgitter, in collaboration with all-day schools, elementary schools with after-school care programs, and partner organizations, has ensured that afternoon care for first-graders could begin at all elementary school locations within the city limits. The legal right to full-day education is thus guaranteed in Salzgitter.

Partners were also found to provide vacation care, in order to ensure that children’s legal entitlement to this service is met.

Holiday care will be offered during the fall break, as close to home as possible for parents and children, primarily in the facilities of the elementary school the child attends.

In addition to plenty of time for free play, children can look forward to exciting activities and supplementary recreational programs in the areas of physical activity, creativity, and music. Independent youth welfare organizations are responsible for implementing the program locally. Participation is voluntary for parents and their children. However, once registered, participation is binding for the selected time period.

Costs

There is a parental fee of 25 euros per child per week for vacation care. There are additional costs for lunch. These are settled directly between the parents and the provider of the respective care program. Additional costs may apply for any field trips, which are collected directly by the provider on site. Care is provided during school breaks from Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
