This workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to get to grips with rhythm. The target group includes, for example, choirs or choir members or band musicians of all styles such as guitarists, pianists and drummers. All non-musicians who want to experience the diverse world of rhythm are also invited.
Participants will work on a drum piece from Latin American salsa with various rhythm modules, breaks and small solos using their own voices and clapping!
Important aspects of the workshop are
- Rhythmic training through body percussion (clapping, stomping, speaking)
- Practicing different rhythm patterns through call/response
- Examining your own coordination skills
- Timing exercises
- Rhythm as communication and social interaction
- rhythmic notation
- and of course - most importantly - drumming and clapping for the fun of music and movement
For many participants, body percussion is a change from their usual learning and working routine. They are able to explore their musicality and teamwork skills. They perceive the group as a whole and themselves as part of the group from a different perspective.
