After a fire broke out in the building on New Year's Eve from 2023 to 2024, the premises have now been completely renovated.

"We are delighted to be able to welcome young people in Salzgitter in person again," says Kerstin Kuechler-Kakoschke, Head of the Braunschweig-Goslar Employment Agency. "The fire was a major disruption to the work of the youth employment agency. However, we all quickly agreed that we wanted to continue this successful model of everyone working under one roof. The construction break has shown that this decision was exactly right. Direct networking and personal contacts are indispensable."

During the renovation phase, the advice and support services offered by the Youth Employment Agency continued to be available at alternative locations.

Jan Erik Bohling, Head of Department of the City of Salzgitter, emphasized: "It was a long road to the reopening. After more than a year, we can continue the good, networked work and revive the central location for training and careers. This new start will benefit not only the employees, but especially the young people in Salzgitter."

Jobcenter Managing Director Alexander Windeler recalled the beginnings in 2015: "Salzgitter was a beacon project throughout Germany and we regularly received visits from all over the country to present ourselves. Since then, the youth employment agency has been able to prove how essential personal contact between the providers is. Young people need a good start to their careers - the staff at the Salzgitter Youth Employment Agency make this possible."

One of the offers: A GreenScreen for photo and background design
... or Thai boxing to join in.

With the reopening, central premises are now available again, enabling short distances and close cooperation between the institutions involved.

The staff had special activities on offer for the official reopening: a green screen for photo and background design, exploring apprenticeships in virtual reality, Thai boxing to take part in and free apprenticeships to take away.

The Salzgitter Youth Employment Agency offers young people a reliable point of contact during the transition from school to work. Advice sessions are now available again in person in the renovated premises at Kurt-Schumacher-Ring 4, Fredenberg in Lebenstedt .

What is a youth employment agency?

The employment agency, job center and youth welfare services work closely together in a youth employment agency. The aim is to support young people under the age of 25 in the transition from school to training, studies or work. The young people receive advice and help from a single source - individual, tailored and coordinated. The aim is to avoid breaks in educational and employment biographies and create sustainable prospects.
