Movie and film talk

To mark the "International Weeks against Racism", the City of Salzgitter's Youth and Democracy Education Team is inviting pupils in grades 9 to 12 to watch the documentary "We are here now" on March 17, followed by a film discussion. Interested school classes can register.

About the film:

This documentary from 2020 gives a voice to seven young men who have fled to Germany. They tell their stories and talk about their flight, arrival in Germany, experiences of racism, fears, but also beautiful experiences.

To the film discussion:

Two protagonists of the film as well as the filmmaker Niklas von Wurmb-Seibel are invited. Pupils can ask their questions after the film and talk to those involved.

The "International Weeks against Racism" will take place nationwide from March 16 to March 29, 2026 under the motto "100% human dignity. Together against racism and right-wing extremism". The Youth and Democracy Education Team in the Children, Youth and Family Department of the City of Salzgitter invites all schools in grades 9 to 12 to watch the documentary "Wir sind jetzt hier" (We are here now) on Tuesday, March 17.

The event starts at 10 a.m. in the Kultiplex in Lebenstedt (Berliner Straße 4) and ends around 12 noon. Admission is free of charge. Registration is possible until February 27 at jugendunddemokratiebildungstadt.salzgitterde (important: the number of classes is limited to two; the number of people must be stated).
