The households to be surveyed are contacted by post by the State Statistical Office of Lower Saxony (LSN) and asked for information. The survey can be conducted online, by paper questionnaire or by telephone.

In order to determine the building structure at the selected addresses and the households to be contacted in advance of the survey, the state office is once again deploying volunteer survey officers in some regions this year to clarify the addresses.

All volunteer survey officers must be able to identify themselves with the help of an ID card.
