The Volkshochschule (VHS) of the city of Salzgitter has free places in its drum course "Cajon - die Kiste rockt!" for beginners (adults and young people aged 16 and over) on Saturday, February 7.

The cajon (Spanish: "wooden box; drawer") is a versatile drum with a wooden playing surface. Its sound is short and dry with a pronounced bass. The "cajoner" sits on his instrument while playing. In recent years, the cajon has established itself as an alternative to drums in acoustic music and is also ideal for rhythmic group lessons.

After an introduction to the various percussion techniques, participants will practise simple rhythm patterns in unison and polyphony. In addition, various pop and rock songs will be accompanied to the CD. Participants' wishes will be taken into account.

Information: The drum course "Cajon - die Kiste rockt!" will take place on Saturday, February 7, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Volkshochschule in Lebenstedt (Thiestraße 26a) and costs 25 euros. The registration deadline is February 4.

Instruments can be borrowed from the instructor Bernd Lange (fee: five euros). Anyone interested should contact the instructor at least one week in advance by e-mail lange.trommelnwebde

Registration is required.
