Local Mayor Angelika Müller thanked everyone involved who made this project possible. She emphasized that the idea for a new playground came from the village community. The children were able to voice their wishes and were involved in the planning as well as in choosing the name. On behalf of the Northwest Local Council, she thanked the mayor, the Salzgitter City Council, and the team at the Municipal Public Works Department (SRB) for bringing the project to life.
A versatile play structure now invites children to explore, featuring climbing and balancing elements, slides, and educational play features. The play area is rounded out by a small spinning carousel and a dachshund-shaped ride-on toy in the shade of the trees.

The toddler playground is connected to parking spaces and an accessible path leading to Nienstedter Straße. The existing gate has been replaced.
This gives young children up to age seven plenty of opportunities to play together and be active.
Older children also have something to look forward to: The playground in front of Lesse Elementary School is currently being expanded. The Board of Trustees of the Konrad Foundation, chaired by Mayor Frank Klingebiel, has approved an 80 percent grant for the Lesse Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association to fund new playground equipment, which is currently being installed.

With the approval of the regional church, a playground for young children was built on the church grounds at a total project cost of 50,000 euros. These funds became available following a resolution by the Salzgitter City Council as part of the 2025/2026 budget of the Municipal Public Enterprise (SRB).
The results of early child participation were incorporated into the planning process.
The selected play elements fulfill a variety of multisensory functions and engage not only proprioception but also the sense of touch, the sense of balance, and visual perception. Through the selected interactive play components, children can play together and learn and strengthen their social skills.
