Pirate Adventures in City Centers

New floor games invite children to join in

Play area at Klesmerplatz in Salzgitter-Bad

Press release from the Salzgitter Economic and Innovation Development Agency:

Play, exercise, and a little adventure right in the heart of Salzgitter’s downtown areas: In Salzgitter-Bad and -Lebenstedt, exciting ground-level games are now inviting people to join in and explore. This initiative by Wirtschafts- und Innovationsförderung Salzgitter GmbH (WIS) is designed to appeal especially to families with children and further enhance the quality of life in the city centers.

A pirate adventure awaits young explorers at a total of five locations in each city center. There, various floor graphics invite them to solve puzzles, play, and get moving. The stations feature a maze, a game based on the “The Floor Is Lava” concept, a treasure hunt with simple physical challenges, a picture and word puzzle, and a scavenger hunt. This allows children to explore the city centers with their parents in a playful way and experience little adventures. The floor graphics are freely accessible and can be used at any time.

The floor games are designed as temporary recreational elements. With this initiative, WIS is implementing a measure from the downtown concepts developed as part of the federal funding program “Sustainable Downtowns and Centers.”

“Our downtown areas should be places where people enjoy spending time. With the ground games, we’re creating an additional attraction for families and making a visit to the city center even more exciting for children. At the same time, the game stations invite kids to explore the city center in a playful way and experience a little pirate adventure together,” says Jan Erik Bohling, Managing Director of WIS.
