In their new program, “Luftmaschen,” the four saxophonists present not only well-known pieces from jazz, classical, funk, and pop but also a variety of their own compositions, tailor-made for the quartet.
The common thread quickly becomes apparent: a love for music of every genre, the joy of playing together, and engaging with the audience. With a keen sense of staging, these spirited musicians weave their pieces together with amusing commentary, skillful show elements, and surprising touches from their instrumental repertoire. They weave musical loops, banter with the guests, and spin straw into gold.
Well-known works such as “Forrest Gump,” “Spinning Wheel,” “Palladio,” “Monster, Inc.,” and even Johannes Brahms’ “Hungarian Dance No. 5” are transformed into new tapestries of sound through sophistication and their own arrangements. Anyone who has ever experienced “Sistergold” knows: it’s going to be a captivating, refined, wild, and entertaining concert evening.
Sistergold brings together four professional female saxophonists whose personalities and diverse styles blend into a unified whole—in their music, in their energy, and with radiant joy.
Tini Thomsen has been playing the tenor saxophone with the group since 2025; she has made a name for herself in numerous productions, through her compositions, and in concerts (including with Nils Landgren, the NDR Big Band, and Joko Winterscheidt’s Pro 7 house band).
