The environmental department of the city of Salzgitter has announced that woodland work is beginning in preparation for the planned restoration of the Fuhse river in the area between the Autobahn 39 and Theodor-Heuss-Straße south of Lebenstedt.

Since Monday, January 12, there have therefore been restrictions on the paths to the right and left of the Fuhse between Autobahn 39 and Theodor-Heuss-Straße. The path can still be used with restrictions.

The woodland work is expected to be completed by the end of February 2026.

The project is funded by the state of Lower Saxony and the EU.

This funding supports projects that serve a non-profit and/or public interest investment to improve environmental and water protection.

With this project (renaturation), water bodies are developed in a near-natural way. This improves the condition of the water and at the same time promotes the diversity of species.

The project is funded by the European Union and the state of Lower Saxony.
