The Environment Department of the City of Salzgitter has announced that woodland work is beginning in preparation for the creation of a new watercourse in the forest south of Sternbergstraße in Gebhardshagen and on the Schlammgraben watercourse between the railroad line and district road 21.

The work is necessary in preparation for watercourse development measures to ensure a permanent water supply for Lake Heert.

Since Thursday, January 22, restrictions are therefore to be expected in the forest above Sternbergstraße up to the street Vor der Burg and in the shrubbery.

The woodland work is expected to be completed by the end of February 2026.
