Salzgitter

A funny start in the city library

The Salzgitter City Library is kicking off its 2026 reading program on Friday, 20 February, with some fun facts.

Dog and master invite you to visit the island: Stefan Gliwitzki presents his latest novel at the Salzgitter-Bad City Library.

Stefan Gliwitzki will be a guest at the Salzgitter-Bad City Library (Marktplatz 11) with his dog and guitar on Friday, February 20, from 6.30 p.m. to present his latest novel "Ooge".

The story: The small North Sea island of Ooge is haunted by tourists. The idyllic miniature world of dunes, seagulls, too many strange geese and stubborn inhabitants is bursting at the seams. Locals and tourists crowd together like sardines in a can - with plenty of potential for conflict. After all, there is neither modesty nor politeness in the behavioral repertoire of the holidaymakers, but all the more a sense of entitlement and misguided service expectations.

But Ooge, the last remaining place of longing for holiday-hungry mainlanders, makes it difficult for vacationers to be liked, tolerated or even just let in. The islanders fight back with drastic and bizarre measures, inadvertently increasing the attraction of their small island in the vast sea...

A furiously funny story from the author of the novel "Quitt". Once again, Stefan Gliwitzki dissects the comedy and tragedy of life, exposes the mechanisms of togetherness and at the same time sets his story in one of the most beautiful vacation spots in Germany: Ooge. The mixture is just right. The language is so sharp. Gliwitzki's books are comedy shows in book form!

Tickets are available in advance for 10 euros directly from the Lebenstedt and Bad city libraries. Tickets at the box office cost 12 euros. Contact 05341 - 839 3434 or by e-mail to stadtbibliothekstadt.salzgitterde
