The content is a ten-year program for the refurbishment of schools in Salzgitter with a total volume of 73 million euros. Mayor Frank Klingebiel explains that the in-house facility management company has carried out a comprehensive data collection for the necessary school refurbishment measures and determined the scope of the refurbishment.
This refurbishment program will be financed and implemented over a period of ten years, which means that from the 2008 financial year, seven to eight million euros per year will be included in the planning for the refurbishment measures as well as the necessary investments for extension and conversion measures.
Klingebiel points out that he already had a total of 11.8 million euros entered in the business plan of the Eigenbetrieb for refurbishment and investment measures in 2007. This means that the volume of expenditure in this important area has already increased by 4.7 million euros (66 percent) compared to 2006.
For Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel, "Salzgitter, the city of learning" is more than just a bold claim. "Behind this is the need for qualitative school development with the aim of increasing the number of recognized educational qualifications," emphasizes the head of administration. Following the council's decision on 23 May 2007 against a "PPP procurement variant", Klingebiel had the implementation concept "School Renovation Plan 2007 plus" developed by the in-house facility management company. The aim is to improve the spatial conditions for a good learning atmosphere.
Following the resolution of this bill, the consultation with the head teachers of the schools that occupy the first five ranks according to the priority list will now take place with regard to the feasibility in terms of time and organization. In order to achieve the planned annual volume of refurbishments, it may be possible for further schools to be included in this process in the planned order.
