To secure long-term development opportunities, the Salzgitter City Council adopted a residential building land and marketing strategy on 31.01.2024.

A total of 85 potential residential building sites in Salzgitter were described and evaluated in earlier, continuously updated studies.

In preparation for the residential building land strategy that has now been adopted, a housing needs analysis was first commissioned. Based on the calculated requirements and recommendations, the identified areas were subjected to a renewed critical review.

A total of 28 potential sites were identified to meet future housing requirements. A further 13 areas are to be secured to meet long-term demand (see the overview map).
