The joint consultation and approval of the budget figures for the two financial years was carried out at the political request of the City Council using the option provided by Section 112 (3) sentence 2 of the Lower Saxony Municipal Constitution Act and began with the presentation of the administrative draft by Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel at the 22nd meeting of the Salzgitter City Council on October 23, 2018.
In a letter dated May 6, 2019, the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior and Sport (MI), as the responsible municipal supervisory authority, has now approved the figures without reservation, thereby acknowledging the extensive efforts made by the Council and Lord Mayor to consolidate the municipal budget.
