The residence permits for refugees from Ukraine will be automatically extended again until March 4, 2027, as stipulated by the Federal Ministry of the Interior and for Home Affairs (BMI) in a statutory order. The automatic extension relieves the burden on those affected and immigration authorities. However, persons without Ukrainian citizenship are exempt from the regulation, unless they or their family members lived in Ukraine before the outbreak of the war with permanent residence or protection recognition.

It is not necessary to apply for an extension of the issued residence permit or to visit the Foreigners' Registration Office.

The Foreigners' Registration Office would therefore like to ask you to refrain from inquiries regarding the extension beyond 04.03.2026. Online appointment bookings will be canceled in the booking system.
