Municipal security service

The Municipal Public Order Service performs the functions of prosecuting, punishing and enforcing reported administrative offenses for all investigation areas of the city of Salzgitter.

The Municipal Public Order Service is the central authority for the prosecution and punishment of all administrative offenses within the jurisdiction of the city of Salzgitter.

One focus is the prosecution of traffic offenses.

Road traffic offenses include, for example

  • speeding
  • Red light violation
  • Not wearing a seatbelt
  • Talking on the phone in the car without hands-free equipment
  • overloading
  • Traffic accident with material damage
  • Alcohol and drugs at the wheel
  • Violations of the Driving Personnel Act (e.g. exceeding driving time)
  • Violations of the Dangerous Goods Ordinance

Offenses committed by road users (and possibly also by vehicle owners) are punished. Depending on the severity and significance of the offense, either a warning fine or a fine is imposed.

A warning fine of up to EUR 35.00 is issued. Amounts in excess of this are punished as a fine and are entered in the central traffic register at the Federal Motor Transport Authority in Flensburg.

The majority of administrative offenses are speeding violations, which are detected by measurements taken by the police and the stationary and mobile speed monitoring systems of the city of Salzgitter.

Stationary traffic is monitored by the municipal traffic wardens of the Citizens' Services department, but also by the police. Private individuals can also file reports.
