The Lord Mayor is delighted with this further milestone on the road to greater child and family friendliness, one of his top goals. "Children are our future," explained Klingebiel, "that's not a platitude, it's my firm conviction."
Minister Ross-Luttmann emphasized: "I very much welcome the fact that the city is seeking collaboration with various cooperation partners for projects in health education, language promotion and further training from the outset," said Minister Ross-Luttmann, "and the approach of offering families decentralized services via the daycare centers in the city districts in the future is also exemplary."
A total of six employees, five pedagogical staff and one administrative employee will be available in the office complex around the play area set up in the specialist service for children, youth and family for questions relating to child day care, day care and the day care center system.
With this office and the concept within the Lower Saxony state program "Families with a future - educating and caring for children", childcare options in Salzgitter will be able to be developed much more flexibly and in line with demand. In future, the six new employees will be responsible for the needs-based care, education and support of the children under the management of the coordinator and day care center consultant Brigitte Vaupel. Susanne Meier will be responsible for coordinating day care for children in the family service, arranging and advising on day care relationships.
Wiebke Geschwandner is responsible for the networking and quality development of reliable daycare, including the further development of training courses and the development of concepts for substitute networks. Karin Milbradt focuses on specialist advice in the area of language development and family support. This also includes preventative support for childminders (foster parents) and parents in the area of child language development and the educational play box rental service. This can now begin thanks to the donation from the SZ-Zeitung. Family support is supplemented by Beate Hudalla's specialist advice with a focus on health education. She also supports the projects of the cooperation partners. The team is currently complemented by Renate Gabrysch (administration), who is responsible for data maintenance, play box equipment and maintenance.
The Family Service Office is supported by model projects of various cooperation partners. The Protestant Family Education Center (EFB) offers the Opstapje and Wellcome support programs for families. In addition, the EFB has put together an interesting training program for day carers in cooperation with the Catholic Family Education Centre. The AWO district association organizes the qualifications in cooperation with other providers and promotes language-oriented guidance for socially disadvantaged families with the Rucksack project. The German Red Cross offers preventative training for children, while both the EFB and the SOS Mothers' Centre organize childcare services during the vacations. A model day care center is also being set up there. Decentralized family service points are also to be developed in various parts of the city in cooperation with the daycare centers in the city.
The entire child and family service project is being funded with 465,908 euros - 50 percent by the Lower Saxony Ministry for Social Affairs, Women, Family and Health in the state program "Families with a future - educating and caring for children". The city of Salzgitter provides a total of 232,954 euros per year to fund the work.
