Salzgitter: Start of construction for logistics center

Construction of a new logistics center for MAN Nutzfahrzeuge in Salzgitter began on November 30 with the official ground-breaking ceremony in the presence of Mayor Frank Klingebiel.

In the immediate vicinity of the MAN production plant, a modern logistics building with 52,000 square meters of hall space for the storage and worldwide distribution of spare parts for trucks, buses and components is being built on an area of 188,000 square meters.

"The new logistics center will further improve MAN Nutzfahrzeuge's international spare parts logistics. By choosing Salzgitter, we are strengthening the location and at the same time benefiting from the proximity to our production plant," said Ralf Kolshorn, Head of Spare Parts at MAN Nutzfahrzeuge.

The logistics center will commence operations at the end of 2010. The property is being built by a specialized investor. The total investment volume amounts to 63 million euros.
