10.10.2013 Construction progress at the teaching kindergarten

The construction of the teaching kindergarten at the Fredenberg vocational schools (BBS) in Lebenstedt is making great progress and is well ahead of schedule.

Operations can begin as planned on January 2 of next year. A teaching kindergarten with a model character is being created. The following focal points are to be implemented:

1. reggio
2. gender approach with a focus on "more men in daycare centers"
and teaching content
3. language education
4. multicultural sensitization

A model daycare center will be created as a teaching kindergarten and training center for the BBS's Fachschule für Sozialpädagogik (FSP). The facility is to be integrated into the Fredenberg "school landscape" as a company daycare center for the schools, and joint projects between the school and the elementary sector will take place both in the daycare center and in the vocational school. A stronger interlinking of theory and practice is planned.

The city of Salzgitter is currently in talks with companies to find out to what extent they would be interested in places in the kindergarten for the children of their employees. However, parents who would like to place their children in this unusual kindergarten also have the opportunity to register their children.

The daycare center is planned for 95 children in the form of three crèche groups for 15 children each and two kindergarten groups for 25 children each. An innovative and participatory concept, such as that found in Reggio pedagogy, is to be implemented in the daycare center. This means that the children should be able to develop and realize their own potential.

Wohnbau Salzgitter is constructing the daycare center building. The city of Salzgitter will rent it for 30 years after completion and the daycare center will be operated by Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe. The state of Lower Saxony is contributing 634,500 euros to the construction costs of 2.6 million euros, with the remainder being financed by funds from the daycare expansion funding program.

There are still places available in the kindergarten. Interested parents can contact the children, youth and family department at marion.rotter-beckerstadt.salzgitterde.
