Salzgitter

Management Committee

Alongside the Council, the Administrative Committee is the city's most important body. As the central steering and management body of the city of Salzgitter, it acts more internally than externally.

In addition to the Lord Mayor as Chairman, it comprises 10 Council members as voting members and 3 basic mandate holders as advisory members.

In addition to the fixed membership of the Lord Mayor, other temporary civil servants can be advisory members of the Administrative Committee. In Salzgitter, these are the department heads who support the Lord Mayor in administrative matters. In addition, every member of the Council has the right to attend meetings of the Administrative Committee as a listener.

The responsibilities of the administrative committee are also defined in the Lower Saxony Municipal Constitution Act. The most important function of the Administrative Committee is to prepare all decisions of the Council. Furthermore, within the scope of its "gap competence", it can make decisions on all matters of the City of Salzgitter for which no other body is responsible.

The Administrative Committee can also comment on all administrative matters and request information from the Lord Mayor on all administrative matters relating to the municipality. The Administrative Committee generally meets every two weeks in closed session.
