Help for young adults

Description

Description

"Assistance for Young Adults" includes various benefits tailored to young adults. The program is designed to help people between the ages of 18 and 21 lead independent, self-determined lives. When an application is submitted, an assessment is conducted to determine which forms of assistance are appropriate in each individual case.

Once an individual has turned 21, continued assistance may be provided in justified individual cases.

The Youth Welfare Office offers a variety of individualized support services. This support is tailored to:

  • Personal goals
  • Wishes
  • Abilities
  • Resources

Resources can include: one’s social environment, friends, and family.

Educational professionals support individuals in coping with everyday problems and help them develop a sense of direction. It doesn’t matter whether the person lives with their parents, in their own apartment, or in a group home.

The following forms are available:

  • Educational guardianship—a person provides support in daily life.
  • Intensive individual social-educational support to help overcome personal crises and gradually learn to solve problems independently.
  • Residential care—support provided in a facility outside the family home
  • Supported living arrangements – the path to an independent life in one’s own home
  • Integration assistance for young adults with an existing or potential mental disability.

Young people who received assistance from the Youth Welfare Office before reaching the age of majority and wish to continue receiving this assistance must submit their own application for assistance for young adults. Previously, legal guardians (parents or guardians) were the ones eligible to receive this assistance.
