Traffic on public roads with vehicles and trains whose dimensions, axle loads or total weights actually exceed the limits generally permitted by law requires a special permit.

Prerequisites

A permit or exemption may only be issued if certain conditions are met, e.g:

• Transportation of an indivisible load,
• transportation by rail or water is not possible,
• suitable route available.

Procedure

A permit or exemption is issued following a written application. Applications can be submitted by fax, e-mail or online via the national procedure management system for oversized and heavy goods transport (VEMAGS).
