Types of public child care include

• child care centers (nursery groups, kindergarten groups, after-school care groups, mixed-age groups)

• Family day care (primarily for children under three years of age and school-age children)

Child care centers where children are cared for on a regular basis, for at least 10 hours per week. Child care centers offer group-based care.

Home-based child care is a form of care centered on the individual child. Children are cared for by a qualified child care provider in the provider’s home, in the home of the child’s legal guardian, or in other facilities.
