If you want to fish in Lower Saxony, you will often need a fishing license. Although it is not mandatory under fishing law, most fishing rights holders make it a prerequisite for issuing a fishing permit.
If you want to fish in inland waters where you are not a fishing right holder or fishing leaseholder, you will need a fishing license or identity card as well as a certificate issued by the right holder that you are allowed to fish (fishing permit). The same applies to the coastal waters of the Weser in Lower Saxony.
The fishing permit (fishing card) must be obtained from the owner or the fishing leaseholder of the water. The local fishing clubs can often answer questions about this.
Information on the Lower Saxony fishing examination can be found on the websites of the fishing associations listed below or from your local fishing association.
