Extend residence permit for company training and further education

If you wish to continue your vocational training or further training in Germany, you must extend your residence permit in good time.

Description

Description

If you have a residence permit for the purpose of vocational training and further education, you must apply for an extension in good time before it expires.

The same conditions apply for the extension of the residence permit as for the initial issue. In principle, your residence permit can be extended until the end of your initial or further training if the initial or further training relationship continues and is expected to lead to successful completion.

The residence permit can only be extended if the Federal Employment Agency agrees.

An extension is not possible if the foreigners authority has already ruled this out when the permit was issued or when it was last extended.

During qualified vocational training, you may work up to 20 hours per week in an occupation that is independent of your vocational training. Self-employment is not permitted.

You can apply for a vocational training allowance for the duration of your training or further training and thus contribute to your living expenses.

If your qualified vocational training ends prematurely for reasons for which you are not responsible, you do not have to leave the federal territory immediately. You can look for another training place in Germany for up to 6 months.
