If your child attends a daycare center or is cared for by a child care provider, the amount of the child care costs is based on your income.

You are only required to pay as much as you can afford based on your income and living situation—without jeopardizing your ability to make ends meet.

If you have a low income or your income has decreased significantly, you can apply for an exemption from these costs.

You can also apply for an exemption if you receive any of the following benefits:

• Basic income support,
• welfare assistance,
• benefits for asylum seekers,
• Child supplement,
• housing allowance.
