The construction of certain buildings and other structures in residential and commercial areas is possible in individual cases without planning permission and can be notified as part of a notification procedure.

Section 62 of the Lower Saxony Building Code (NBauO) regulates which buildings and other structures do not require planning permission and under what conditions and require written notification.

As no building permit is issued, the client, together with the author of the design, is responsible for compliance with all requirements that the building project must meet.

The client may request that a building permit procedure be carried out instead of a notification procedure. The building permit procedure incurs higher fees and the processing time is generally longer.
