Qualified patient transport is the transportation of other sick, injured or needy persons who, according to medical assessment, require specialist medical care or a specially equipped ambulance during transportation or for whom this is to be expected due to their condition.

This qualified patient transport is generally provided by the ground-based rescue service of the municipal authorities and in some cases by companies and aid organizations that have received approval for this type of patient transport, as well as by the state's air rescue service.
