Apply for compensation for loss of earnings in the event of additional costs

If your livelihood is at risk as a result of a loss of earnings in accordance with Section 56 (1) or (1a) IfSG, you can apply for a certain amount of additional expenses to be reimbursed.

Description

Description

The Infection Protection Act (IfSG) protects the population in Germany. It also provides financial compensation for people who are affected by the protective measures.

If you are placed in domestic quarantine or banned from working as a result of an official measure under the Infection Protection Act and suffer a loss of earnings as a result, you are generally entitled to compensation for the loss of earnings incurred.

In the event of a threat to their livelihood, those entitled to compensation may also be reimbursed by the competent authority to an appropriate extent for the additional expenses incurred during the loss of earnings.

Payment and application must be made in writing to the competent authority. The application for compensation must be submitted retroactively within 2 years of the start of the ban on work or the end of the quarantine.
