You must report the theft of your ID card.

You can report the theft to any identity card authority. If you report the theft to the police, you will need to visit the ID card office to apply for a new ID card.

You must also apply for a new ID card if you are over 16 years old and do not have a valid passport document, i.e. a passport or temporary passport. You can submit the application to the citizens' office at your main place of residence.

If you do not apply for your new ID card at your main place of residence, but at another citizens' office, you will need an important reason. You will also have to pay a surcharge. If you contact your chosen Citizens' Registration Office in advance, you can find out whether and to what extent the Citizens' Registration Office will accept your reason.
