You can report the theft to any ID card office. Generally, you should contact your local municipal office. If you report the theft to the police, you must visit the ID card office to apply for a new ID card.

In addition, you must apply for a new ID card if you are over 16 years old and do not have a valid travel document—that is, neither a passport nor a temporary passport. You can submit the application at the citizens’ office corresponding to your primary residence.
