Thomas Dompke began painting as a self-taught artist. Participation in art courses run by the artist Ursula Weigelt was a milestone in his development as a painter. The expansion of his skills in various painting techniques, both in breadth and depth, and above all the realization of absolute freedom in his work is essential.

Two focal points have emerged: on the one hand, abstract painting, where there is no limit to the materials used. On the other hand, figurative painting, especially still lifes, where, in contrast to the abstract, a certain precision in the representation is desired.
