Plot of the film "The Irony of Life," shown in Salzgitter

Edgar (67) is a successful comedian who pokes fun at getting older in his stage show: a failed marriage, declining health, a waning libido, general uselessness, or the approach of death. But as soon as the show is over, a lonely man is left behind, trying to fill his empty evenings with online shopping and alcohol.

When his terminally ill ex-wife Eva (65) comes to see him after a performance, the two begin to reconnect—after 25 years of silence. Frustrated that Eva refuses any medical treatment, he encourages her to accompany him on his comedy tour through Germany. A journey marked by her advancing illness, which brings Edgar back to himself and, eventually, even to his estranged children. An entertaining film with depth about life and death, the joys of love, and family strife; impressively performed by Uwe Ochsenknecht and Corinna Harfouch.
