Naván
Naván kicks off the evening with excitingly arranged Celtic folk music. Polyphonic singing and enchanting harp melodies are both moving and captivating. The music of this female musician and her two male counterparts is shaped by a love of tradition. At the same time, their shared enthusiasm for the new, the interesting, and the exotic drives them to continually discover new facets of Celtic folk music.
The band’s repertoire includes traditional melodies from Ireland and many other countries where Celtic music has left its mark. New and unconventional compositions enrich the program and hint at how traditional music continues to evolve even today.
In addition to tunes—the classic dance music—the band performs traditional songs and contemporary pieces.
Alex Schladebeck grew up in England and has a classical music background. With her French influences, she contributes to the band’s multicultural style. Jens Kinzel and Volker Itze bring years of experience from the regional folk scene.
Pressure & Tuthill
The second set of the Irish Christmas Meeting will be performed by “Pressure & Tuthill,” consisting of Irish musician Paul Tuthill (accordion, vocals) and Christian Prescher on acoustic guitar, vocals, and percussion. With their sound, they regularly create a great atmosphere in numerous Irish pubs, among other venues. The duo’s diverse repertoire includes Irish songs, oldies, and many rock and pop classics.
The evening traditionally concludes with encores, which are played and sung together by both bands.
Admission is 22 euros (19 euros for members).
