This raises questions: What exactly are low- and intermediate-level radioactive wastes, and where do they come from? What does the radioactive waste look like that is buried deep beneath the Earth’s surface? How are the radioactive materials safely packaged? How is everything monitored, and what role does radiation protection play in this?

These and many other questions will be the focus of the dialogue event “Konrad Update: This Nuclear Waste Is Coming to Salzgitter” on November 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Kulturscheune, Thiestraße 22, in Lebenstedt.

Iris Graffunder, Chair of the Executive Board of BGE, and Heike Merx, Head of Waste Disposal at KTE (Kerntechnische Entsorgung Karlsruhe GmbH), will share their perspectives and expertise during the event—in a well-informed, understandable manner and open to questions.

Following an introduction to the topic, attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with the experts. This is a chance to get first-hand answers, gain a better understanding of the background, and form your own opinion.

Participation is free of charge.
Refreshments and a light snack will be provided.
