"Gamer Gate, Amber Heard, Imane Khelif, Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf - the right-wing culture war that has been raging for years is being waged again and again on individual women. They are dehumanized, defamed and specifically threatened. However, the hatred against these women, which is particularly rampant in digital spaces, does not arise organically, but is regularly fueled by right-wing actors.

However, these campaigns work time and time again, as social media offers a perfect basic structure for its users to give free rein to their (trans)misogyny. This misogynistic basic tenor ultimately culminates in a global anti-feminist backlash."

This lecture deals with the history and mechanisms of misogynistic hate campaigns and shows the threat they pose both to those affected and to democracy as such.
