On this afternoon, Siegfried Bürger's organ (built in 1998) will be played four-handed for the first time with simultaneous transmission of the organ playing system onto a large screen.
The program includes well-known melodies and compositions by Handel: Hallelujah, Bach: Air, Mozart: Turkish March, Strauss: Danube Waltz, Schumann: "Wilder Reiter" and "Fröhlicher Landmann", Joplin: Ragtime "The Entertainer", Pédalier: "Bruder-Jakob-Miniaturen" for organ pedal with four feet, Lenz: Variations on "Freude, schöner Götterfunken".
The organist and organist Iris and Carsten Lenz together form the "Organ Duo". The two virtuosos are currently regarded as one of the leading organ duos in Europe. They are organists at the large and important Skinner organ in the Saalkirche church in Ingelheim am Rhein. Since the coronavirus pandemic, they have performed at several highly acclaimed Protestant ZDF television services there. They have played numerous concerts in many European countries and in the USA with their four-hand concert programs. In addition, they have released around 30 CD recordings and 3 video DVDs and have participated in other radio and TV productions.
Concerts with the organ duo Lenz have several specialties. For one thing, the program is suitable and entertaining for all age groups, with compositions that are both pleasant to listen to and humorous. In addition, the organ playing system will be transmitted by video to a large screen in the church, so that concert-goers can watch the organist play live from all seats in the church. The program is also humorously moderated.
The duo adds: "The fairly new organ with its colorful sound is particularly well suited for our concert with well-known melodies. Approximately 10 minutes before the concert begins, we give a short organ demonstration as a small pre-program. We use the screen on which our playing can also be seen during the concert. In this way, visitors can get a rare insight into how an organ works and what it can sound like."
Admission is free (collection requested). Duration: approx. 1 hour. Information about the performers, demo video: www.lenz-musik.de. (opens in a new tab)
