This fits in perfectly with the times, symbolizing a love of local sounds in a cosmopolitan country with a rich tradition, where anti-Semitism and xenophobia certainly have no place.
A concert contribution on the occasion of the New Year's reception 2024 of the Minister President of the Saarland tipped the scales: in addition to "Helmut Eisel & JEM", the big band of the Saarland police orchestra also played.
Helmut Eisel on clarinet, Stefan Engelmann on double bass and Juan Pablo Gonzales on guitar are now joined by Peter Kästner and Felix Blum (each on flugelhorn and trumpet) and Peter Hedrich on trombone as a result of this encounter.
Helmut Eisel's love of music began in his childhood - shaped by his clarinet-playing grandfather and the music clubs that brightened up the lives of miners in Saarland. Outdoor festivities to the sounds of these music clubs are among the most lasting and happy memories of his childhood and youth and shaped his concept of home. Warm brass harmonies left a special impression.
Klezmer is music that was played by Jewish Wandermusikanten, mainly at weddings. Due to the diaspora, it has spread all over the world and is therefore an ideal medium for musicians who want to communicate with each other and with the audience.
